Calsina Carré opens a new logistics hub in Algeciras

At Calsina Carré, we have opened a new logistics hub in San Roque (Cádiz): Calsina Carré Services Algeciras, a facility designed to offer high value-added services to hauliers in one of the most strategic locations in southern Europe.

Located just 15 kilometres from the Port of Algeciras, the main link between Europe and the Maghreb, this new centre has been established to meet the growing need for secure, modern and efficient infrastructure for international transport across the Strait.

The hub features a secure car park with capacity for 190 vehicles, certified to European Union standards, designed to ensure maximum protection for vehicles, goods and drivers themselves. A reliable environment that allows transport professionals to park, rest and optimise their routes at a key point in their operations.

In line with our commitment to improving conditions for hauliers, the facilities include services such as showers, a laundry, rest areas, vending machines, Wi-Fi, a prayer room and designated dining areas, with the aim of providing a comfortable, functional environment tailored to their needs whilst on the road.

Furthermore, the centre is equipped to cater for different types of transport, with specific areas for ADR goods, connections for refrigerated units and electric charging points.

This opening marks another step forward in the development of Calsina Carré Services, following the 2022 inauguration of our centre in Pont de Molins, which has established itself as a hub with a daily flow of over 1,000 vehicles.

With over 20 years’ experience in the Strait of Gibraltar, we are thus reinforcing our commitment to the Campo de Gibraltar as a strategic hub for international transport, offering this new facility to both group clients and external hauliers.

Looking ahead, we plan to expand our services with the addition of a refuelling station offering multiple fuel types, including biofuels, as well as a logistics warehouse with cross-docking facilities, customs services, a maintenance workshop and a car wash for commercial vehicles.

We continue to move forward by driving solutions that connect routes, people and opportunities.

Driving the digitalisation of sustainable transport

At Calsina Carré, we continue to move forward in our commitment to innovation, sustainability and the digital transformation of transport. In this context, we have received funding through the 2024 Call of the Support Programme for Sustainable and Digital Transport – PATSYD to develop the project “Digital ecosystem for the management and traceability of Calsina Carré’s ITUs”, known as DIGICALUTI.

This project is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU and its main objective is to create a digital ecosystem based on the sensorisation of ITUs, enabling full traceability from origin to final destination. Through this initiative, we aim to integrate all stakeholders in the value chain and ensure comprehensive, reliable and efficient data capture.

By incorporating advanced technological solutions, DIGICALUTI will enable us to optimise the coordination, monitoring and management of ITUs throughout their entire life cycle. This digitalisation will help improve the use of logistics resources, anticipate demand, strengthen decision-making and significantly reduce the emissions associated with our operations.

One of the project’s main pillars is the promotion of intermodality. Looking ten years ahead, we expect 62% of Calsina Carré’s transport to be managed through intermodal modes, such as rail and maritime transport, in contrast to the current model, which is still predominantly based on road transport. This change represents a firm step towards a more efficient, competitive and environmentally responsible logistics model.

DIGICALUTI also foresees a substantial improvement in operational efficiency, thanks to the optimisation of route planning and ITU allocation. These improvements are expected to reduce delivery times by 20% and minimise operating costs.

In terms of sustainability, the project includes a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions through the incorporation of sensorisation systems and the strategic use of digital corridors. In this regard, a 30% reduction in the carbon footprint associated with transport is expected.

Furthermore, the comprehensive digitalisation of operational processes will allow us to centralise information through Business Intelligence platforms, generate key indicators and access high-quality data to improve decision-making. The implementation of a centralised management system will strengthen the traceability and connectivity of ITUs, reducing data management errors by up to 90%.

With DIGICALUTI, Calsina Carré is taking a further step in its digital transformation and sustainability strategy. We are committed to a more connected, efficient and responsible logistics model, capable of responding to the current challenges of the sector and actively contributing to the decarbonisation of transport.

Project funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

Palets Calsina Carré

We have introduced a new automated pallet measurement system

At Calsina Carré, we continue to build on our commitment to innovation and the continuous improvement of our logistics processes with the introduction of a new automated pallet measurement system.

This new technological solution allows us to integrate weight verification, volumetric measurement using high-precision laser sensors, and photographic capture of each pallet into a single process, ensuring a reliable, consistent and fully traceable record of all goods.

Thanks to volumetric measurement technology using industrial laser sensors, the system is capable of accurately measuring even irregular loads, ensuring stable and consistent data that optimises logistics planning and pricing. Added to this is a certified weighing system and automatic photographic recording, which reinforce transparency and control in every operation.

For goods with special dimensions or non-standard volumes, the process is completed through manual measurements following a standardised internal procedure, ensuring operational continuity and traceability in all cases.

The implementation of this system forms part of our Technological Improvement Plan, aimed at building a more rigorous, controlled and scalable logistics system. A model that allows us to standardise data, record every movement accurately and prepare for future expansions and automation within our operational network.
This improvement translates into direct benefits for our customers, such as greater data accuracy, reduced discrepancies, optimised transport and more efficient control of operations.

We continue to incorporate technology to offer an increasingly reliable and transparent service, aligned with the needs of today’s transport sector.

At Calsina Carré, we have once again taken part in SITL – Transport & Logistics Innovation Week, one of the key events in the European logistics sector, held in Paris from 31 March to 2 April. This event, which is particularly significant for our international positioning, enables us to strengthen our presence in a strategic market: France, which remains the group’s number one market.

During the fair, we were present at stand L102 in Hall 7, where we welcomed clients, partners and industry professionals keen to learn about our logistics solutions first-hand. Our proximity to the French market and our operational expertise enable us to offer a highly specialised service tailored to the needs of this environment.

SITL has once again been an excellent opportunity to consolidate relationships and generate new business opportunities. The meetings we held have allowed us to continue listening to the French market, identify new needs and further develop our value proposition in an increasingly demanding and competitive environment.

In this edition, we have placed special emphasis on one of the group's major transformation axes: the decarbonisation of transport. In this regard, the commitment to intermodality is a firmly established reality within Calsina Carré, with a steady increase in the volume transported via combined rail solutions.

We currently operate several intermodal lines connecting the Iberian Peninsula with Europe, notably routes such as Perpignan–Paris and Le Boulou–Bettembourg, which have become key corridors for offering a more sustainable alternative to road transport. This model allows us to reduce emissions, optimise resources and maintain high standards of service and reliability for our customers.

n addition to sustainability, other key areas such as digitalisation and supply chain flexibility were prominent in the discussions held during the fair, confirming that the future of the sector lies in increasingly integrated, efficient and resilient solutions.

We return from SITL 2026 with new ideas, contacts and opportunities that reinforce our commitment to the French market and to a more sustainable and innovative logistics model.
From Calsina Carré, we would like to thank everyone who visited our stand and shared this space with us.

See you at the next edition!

Calsina Carré tren multimodal para reducir emisiones

Calsina Carré promotes sustainability with new emissions reduction certifications

At Calsina Carré, we are strengthening our commitment to increasingly sustainable and environmentally responsible transport. As a logistics operator committed to the decarbonisation of the sector, we are starting 2026 with important official recognitions that certify the positive impact of our logistics solutions, especially thanks to the use of multimodal transport.

We have reduced CO₂ emissions by more than 15,800 tonnes in 2025 thanks to the promotion of rail and multimodal transport.

Nous avons récemment reçu le certificat de réduction de l'empreinte carbone 2025 délivré par Lorry-Rail (VIIA), which demonstrates the direct impact of integrating railways into our transport chain.

Según este certificado, durante 2025 la actividad de Calsina Carré con Lorry-Rail (VIIA) permitió evitar un total de 11.360 toneladas de emisiones de CO₂.
These results confirm the role of rail as one of the most effective levers for decarbonising freight transport on long-distance European corridors, significantly reducing the environmental footprint compared to the road-only model.

In addition to Lorry-Rail (VIIA) recognition, Calsina Carré has obtained other certifications in 2025 that reinforce the real and measurable impact of our sustainability strategy. Among these, the Eco-Responsible Transport Certificate stands out. Novatrans, which certifies a reduction of 4,354 tons of CO₂ thanks to the use of multimodal solutions on international routes.

We have also received the CO₂e Saver Certificate from CargoBeamer, which recognizes an additional reduction of 143 tons of CO₂e compared to road transport alone. The study, conducted using the EcoTransIT World tool and in accordance with ISO 14083, also points to additional environmental benefits such as reduced emissions of SOx, NOx, and particulate matter (PM10), as well as a decrease of more than 50% in energy consumption.

For its part, Le Shuttle Freight has certified a minimum saving of 3.7 tonnes of CO₂ on Channel crossings made by rail.

Lean & Green and Acords Voluntaris: structured commitment

These results are part of a structured environmental strategy aligned with the main sustainability frameworks. Calsina Carré actively participates in the Lean & Green programme of AECOC, one of Europe's leading initiatives for reducing emissions in the logistics chain, which requires quantifiable targets, action plans and verification of results.

The company is also a signatory to the GEH Voluntary Agreements on Emissions Reduction promoted by the Government of Catalonia, reinforcing its commitment to rigorous calculation, progressive reduction and transparent communication of its carbon footprint.
